Gallery Wrap is a technique of stretching canvas so that it actually wraps around the sides, of stretcher bars or strainer bars, and is then secured to the back with staples or tacks. The sides of the canvas are then painted in the same manner as the image on the face or they could be simply painted a solid represenitive color of the face.
By using this gallery wrap technique for stretching and preparing canvas for painting,
the artist can finish the face and sides of the painting, which allows it to be displayed as
a frameless presentation. The thickness of the stretcher bars can vary with the size of the painting; the larger the painting, the thicker the bars are likely to be. If requested, any of the reproductions can be printed to allow extra canvas to be added and painted. This would allow them to be stretched and displayed in the Gallery Wrap style, completely eliminating the need for a frame.
